The loyalty to the trails here in Ashland is deep and even stretch beyond it’s borders. What I’ve discovered since I’ve started riding, and gettting riders to their rides, is people here care about their trails beyond what I’ve ever imagined. The local MTB community comes together in incredible numbers and conviction. Folks from other towns and even states are coming out to pitch in on the upkeep. The spring and fall bring an onslot of riders that come out in such numbers that 15 to 20 tools is just not enough! A hundred man hours accomplished in a single day, thats 20 plus people working more than 5 hours. On the day, this community of riders say’s “today we fix our trails.”
AMA hosted a trail day this last Saturday and had 16 people brave the bad weather. Snow and rain and winds that had everyone wondering if they would be in the wrong place at the wrong time! They came from the towns of Medford and Shasta as well as Ashland. Not stoping untill the job was done.
Wes at Cascade Mountian Adventures drew a good sized group on Sunday and sorted out some crucial water bars in the meadow of Time Warp which as recently recomissioned by the U.S.F.S. as a legal trail. Thanks Wes and S.O.F.A. for there continued efforts to maintain the trails we love to shred!
Don’t miss your opportunity to come out and spend some quality time on these awesome trails here in Ashland as the vibe here will overtake your soul and get your MTBking jones fixed till the next time!
Thanks to all those that pitched in,
Bill n Sue Roussel Ashland Mountian Adventures

Mitch, Matt and crew from SF Dirt Lab made it up this labor day weekend for a whole lot of riding ( about 50 miles a day) camping at Emigrant lake and great food and night life here in Ashland. They were even able to get Sue and I to haul our old butts out for a night on the town! Riding with this crew is a blast as they are all very skilled and really stick together to ensure every one makes it back. Mitch your ready for Masters World Championships… But are you old enough yet?
They brought there lady friends on this trip and they got there fair share of riding in as well, enjoying the beautiful sights from the fire road decent down to Lithia Park. When the day was done and they rolled back to the shop we all enjoyed a beer, wine for the ladies, and great stories of trails ridden.
Sue and I eagerly await your return, hopefuly after some rain, and more fun rides and good times for sure!

We here at Ashland Mountain Adventures are very into trail maintenence, in more ways than one. Not only do we enjoy joining in the many mountain bike group trail work days that S.O.M.B.A., S.O.F.A and the 12 Mile Super D help put together, But we’ve been setting aside some funds from the shuttle to help with organizing some end of the season trail work days. After a long summer of many hours of use the trails develop braking bumps and ruts that will need to be smoothed out and filled in and the dirt accepts this best with a little moisture so we will be setting dates in late October and early November.
We would like to thank the many people that have already devoted endless hours to trail work this season. This community is the most supportive and selfless group of outdoor users I have ever had the pleasure of working along side. Many areas struggle to get people together for the good of the trails and here, bikers come out in droves to maintain their trails and accesss roads. We would like to see that they are fairly compensated or at least well fed and supported on there trail work days and thats why we’ve begun a trail work fund that could help provide the tools, food, beverage and transport to and from designated work location.
We will announce our trail work dates at the end of August to give everyone time to plan there time on the mountain. Enjoy the rest of your summer, winter will be here before you know it!
